City Hero turns a giant 3D metropolis into an action playground where you pick how to get around, explore, and deal with the challenges that come up. The character has extraordinary powers, like the ability to use a grappling hook to enter buildings, move aloft or flee dangerous situations swiftly. You can not only do tasks but also drive freely, go around the streets and explore each part of the map.
The transport system is what makes City Hero interesting. If you go just by ground, you will lose a lot of time covering long distances. The grappling hook opens up another option: accessing buildings from above, swinging through gaps, and finding shorter routes.
Vehicles also play a crucial role when traveling long distances. Therefore, the city can be accessed in many ways instead of just following pre-determined routes.
Missions put you in confrontations with criminals. Melee combat is suitable when enemies are close, while guns and other weapons help deal with targets at a greater distance. The character's mobility is especially useful in situations with multiple opponents.
Instead of focusing solely on attacking, constant movement and strategic positioning directly affect how you handle combat.

On PC, WASD or arrow keys are used for movement, the mouse controls viewing angle and aiming, the left mouse button attacks or shoots, and Space is used for jumping. Other controls are for using the harness, mounting vehicles, and interacting.
One easy recommendation is to not rely on the streets too much. If you need to get somewhere far away or get out of a fight, use the harness to alter elevation and direction. Keeping your distance and always moving about in battle also offers you more time to react.
If you want to explore freely, move around with flexibility, enjoy a combination of action, missions and adventures without a definite goal, then City Hero is perfect for you.
